At the end of the seventh week of confinement, France deplores 166 new deaths in 24 hours due to the coronavirus, announced the Directorate General of Health (DGS) in a statement on Saturday. A total of 24,760 people have died from Covid-19 in the country since the start of the epidemic.
In detail, the DGS counts 15,487 deaths in hospitals (+ 118) and 9,273 (+ 48) in medico-social establishments, in particular in nursing homes. For several days now, the daily death toll has been falling compared to the peak of the epidemic known in April.
The number of intensive care patients is also decreasing, with a total of 3,827 people in serious condition, and a negative balance of 51. There are still 25,827 people hospitalized as a result of coronavirus contamination. "As we approach May 11, we must not relax the collective effort that is bearing fruit and slowing down the epidemic," stresses the General Directorate of Health again.
"Four regions (Ile de France, Grand Est, Auvergne Rhône Alpes, Hauts de France) alone account for 72% of hospitalized cases", specifies the DGS. At least 50,562 people returned home, healed.
The deconfinement card
The Directorate General of Health has also unveiled a new map evaluating the hospital tension in each department as well as the rate of circulation of the virus.
On this map, little change compared to Friday, except for the passage of the departments of the Provence-Alpes Côte d'Azur region (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Alpes-Maritimes, Hautes-Alpes, Vaucluse, Bouches-du -Rhône and Var) from orange to green. This change is explained by the decrease in hospital tensions, specifies the DGS. This card, which is used to organize the pre-deconfinement, is updated every day.
