(ANSA) - MOGADISCIO, MAY 2 - The alarm is rising in Somalia for coronavirus infections while doctors, funeral services and cemeteries report an unprecedented increase in deaths.
Official data speak of 601 confirmed cases and 28 deaths, bad evidence suggests, the Guardian reports online, that real numbers are much higher.
An ambulance driver, Mohamed Osmane Warsame, said he had transported between 15 and 18 bodies every day in the last two weeks to the cemeteries of the capital Mogadishu. Much more than the average of the two, at least four, of the previous day's transports.
On April 25, the Ministry of Health reported two deaths from Covid-19. The next day Mohamed carried 12 bodies.
