62% of Italians think they will need psychological support to deal with the return to normal after the two months of lockdown for the pandemic emergency. This need is double in those who live as a couple compared to those living in a family, and singles also express a need for psychological support 12% higher than those living in a family. These are some of the data of a survey on the Italian population conducted by the Piepoli Institute for the National Council of the Order of Psychologists (CNOP).
Not only the fear of contagion, therefore, but also restrictions and worries about the future. To date, 8 out of 10 Italians believe that having recourse to the psychologist can help manage this phase 2 and they want the public system to provide psychological assistance. Women and young people believe more than men that a psychologist is needed to overcome this moment.
In particular, there are "pivotal" places where almost all Italians loudly require the presence of psychologists, and in particular hospitals (90%), facilities for the elderly (87%), social services ( 84%), to help family doctors and home care (79%), to help students (73%), in the workplace (72%). 62% of Italians therefore think that they will need psychological support to face normalcy. A very large number, considering that in the research previously carried out only 40% of Italians declared that they had turned to a psychologist for themselves or for other members of their family.
