David Greenfield, brilliant Stranglers keyboard, succumbs to the coronavirus

Keyboard of the Stranglers, Dave Greenfield died at the age of 71 on Sunday evening after having tested positive for the coronavirus. Originally from Brighton, he had stayed in the hospital for heart problems and is believed to have contracted covid-19 there.

"Dave tested positive for coronavirus last Sunday but unfortunately lost his battle, " said group members in a statement released on Monday. Dave has always been with us since his arrival in 1975. His keyboard talent has been recognized worldwide during his 45-year career with the Stranglers. ”

Jean-Jacques Burnel, bassist of the group, also testifies on the group's website. “On the evening of Sunday May 3, my great friend and colleague for 45 years, the musical genius that was Dave Greenfield died and is among the victims of the great pandemic of 2020. Historical member of the punk group, Dave Greenfield is notably behind one of the Stranglers' biggest hits. In 1982, he signed the music for Golden Brown, the flagship title of the album La Folie carried by an air of melancholic and intoxicating harpsichord.
