In Paris rue de Rivoli, and all over the world, more and more temporary cycle paths are emerging. New developments v

Rue de Rivoli will soon be reserved only for bikes, scooters, buses and emergency vehicles. This was announced by the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo in an interview with Agence France Presse:

“Rue de Rivoli, I would like there to be an axis dedicated exclusively to bicycles and another reserved only for buses, taxis, emergency vehicles and craftsmen's vehicles, but not cars. Thus, we will be able to circulate from east to west by bicycle (from the Porte de Vincennes to the Porte Maillot passing Bastille, rue de Rivoli, Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Élysées) ”indicated the mayor.

The strategy of "tactical town planning"

Adrien Lelièvre, journalist at "Les Echos" and specialist in new mobility, explains that behind these new cycle paths, there is a precise strategy: "tactical town planning". This involves materializing cycle paths with all types of objects (flowers, tomatoes or even suction cups for toilets), to highlight the need for new infrastructure.

It remains to be seen whether these temporary tracks will be able to register over time or not. The president of the region, Valérie Pécresse has already announced an investment of 300 million euros for the RER bike.
