This census, which should end on Friday, already reveals large disparities between the territories, as well as this first impression: the volunteers for the return to school in May are not always those whose children need school the most.
In Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine), the town hall surveyed school bags: 60% of the 1,200 respondents want to find the yards. Conversely, according to a survey by the FCPE parents' federation in Seine-Saint-Denis, in which 2,000 households participated, "75% are against", notes Rodrigo Arenas, the president of the FCPE.
Of the 28 students in his elementary course, Jean-Luc received "10 positive responses from families", but only one that fits with the list of eight children in difficulty noted in his notebook. "The pupils who cannot be followed at a distance, we will not find them at school either", anticipates this Picard teacher. A stone in the garden of the government, which has placed the reopening of classes as an imperative of social justice.
Parents' motivation letter
“We very much hope that those who need school most will come back. The teachers will call the families, and a discussion with a professor can change many things compared to the first intentions ”, relativizes Edouard Geffray, number two of the ministry for national education.
No need for persuasion for Laetitia ( the first name has been changed ): this senior executive checked the "yes" box, in the survey of his school in the 13th district of Paris. "I am a volunteer ... but not a priority," she laments. Families in his case are asked to write a kind of motivation letter "setting out the arguments for which they would like a place in school anyway," we can read in the letter sent to parents.
Laetitia did not even risk it, convinced that the return to the table of her little ones of 3 and 7 years old is largely compromised. "Too bad, I would have liked them to find a sociability before the long vacation," she says. And I would appreciate telecommuting without having them on my back every 5 minutes… ”
