Midfielder Thiago Alcantara has extended his contract with Bayern Munich, according to reports from the German newspapers Bild and Sport Bild. The duration of the extension is unknown. The current contract of the 29-year-old Spaniard (son of Brazil's Mazinho, 1994 world champion) expires in June 2021. Arriving from Barcelona in 2013 for € 25 million, Thiago won six German champion titles and three German cups with the "Rekordmeister", for which he played 227 games and scored 31 goals. Since the beginning of the year, coach Hansi Flick and striker Thomas Müller have also extended their contracts until 2023.
Negotiations with goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer and with Austrian international defender David Alaba continue.
