Newly advertised properties usually go away like hot cakes because of the tight housing market. Is that the case with this "special" apartment?

Newly advertised properties usually go away like hot cakes because of the tight housing market. Is that the case with this "special" apartment?

  • An apartment advert from Sydney raised many questions online.
  • A detail is an exclusion criterion for some.
  • Nevertheless, the interest in the apartment seems great.

Actually, the small apartment in the eastern Surry Hills district in Sydney doesn't look too bad: enough light comes into the newly renovated apartment through the windows, a modern kitchen is available and it is also fully equipped with a bed, TV and sofa. A detail in the middle of the apartment can hardly be ignored - and is currently raising questions among Twitter users.

Apartment advertisement with strange detail

A picture of the advertisement was shared by user Joan Westenberg on the social network. What immediately catches the eye is the unusual combination of kitchen and bathroom right next to each other - and only separated by a pane of glass . So you always have an unobstructed view of the entire apartment when showering or doing business. Likewise, a possible visit would also have a clear view of what is happening in the bathroom . So no trace of privacy.

The small apartment costs 380 Australian dollars a week. That would be the equivalent of around 915 euros per month - a reasonable, if not cheaper, price for the residential area, as some users who discovered the ad think. But is that enough to get used to the "open" bathroom?

Realtor offers solution for open-hearted division

"Many people have already registered and love it because it is so different from what you normally see," says broker Emma Mattiuzzo, who arranges the apartment, in an interview with the Real Estate portal. In order to lure more interested parties, no rent would have to be paid in the first two weeks. It is also $ 50 a week cheaper than it would be without the corona pandemic.

The broker also has a solution to the problem of low privacy in the bathroom: "The apartment is enough for one person and because there is not much space anyway , no dinner parties will be possible . That is why it will not be a problem for most people."

Also interesting : brazen or ingenious? This "apartment" was originally something completely different.

But one or the other Twitter user wonders whether something like that is allowed at all: "How is that legal at all? I could have sworn there are building regulations that prohibit something like this," writes one person, for example. Another user does not seem to be completely averse to the apartment: "What is wrong with me that my first reaction was only: '$ 380 a week is not bad at all'". So it seems to have a certain charm ...
