Every day, Le Parisien is mobilized to answer your questions around the coronavirus. Today, we are interested in Quentin's question: "Will amusement parks and zoos be able to reopen soon?" "
The contours of the deconfinement planned from May 11 are gradually taking shape. Prime Minister Édouard Philippe has announced that media libraries, libraries and "small museums" will be able to reopen as of this date, while respecting social distancing measures. The gardens may also reopen, provided they are located in "departments where the virus does not circulate actively".
However, major museums, cinemas, concert halls and theaters will remain closed after May 11. Finally, "any event of more than 5000 participants is prohibited until September," insisted the head of government.
The case of amusement parks and zoos has not been officially mentioned. Contacted by the Parisian, the Ministry of the Interior indicates that "to date, points are still being investigated" to determine their respective reopening.
In Germany, the Europa-Park theme park, which attracts millions of visitors every year near the French border, will reopen on May 29. This reopening will first concern the inhabitants of Germany as long as the borders are closed, its management announced on Friday.
Reopening of certain regional parks
In France, although it will probably be necessary to wait a little longer before taking advantage of the large amusement parks, several family structures may already reopen as early as next week.
As with access to the beaches, the prefectures can give the green light to sites wishing to welcome visitors again. The reopening authorizations “will be adapted according to the size and the situation. We are going to study this carefully, ”for example promised the prefect of Pays de la Loire, Claude d'Harcourt.

Several structures, such as the Doué-la-Fontaine Bioparc (Maine-et-Loire), or the Boissière-du-Doré zoo near Nantes, will be able to reopen their doors next week. Note however: the parks could be authorized to reopen if they can put in place suitable measures to protect the public (measures of social distances between visitors, wearing of masks, traffic flow, etc.).
Colossal losses
The Boissière-du-Doré zoo, which is scheduled to reopen on May 16, invites visitors to "systematically wear a mask", to "respect the distance of at least 1 m between each family" and "to wash regularly hands ". Stopped since March 17, some sites are already accusing several million euros of losses. "Since the park closed, we have been working at a loss," said Jean-Marc Charpentier, veterinarian and head of Bois d'Attilly in Férolles-Attilly (Seine-et-Marne), to the Parisian. We feed, we spend, we maintain, we care, but no recipe compensates. "
