Microsoft launches a five-year $ 1.5 billion investment plan in Italy "to support local innovation and growth", also bringing the first regional data center to the peninsula. The project is called 'Ambizione Italia #DigitalRestart' and will aim, among other things, at accessing local cloud services, expanding the partnership with Poste Italiane, launching "new digital skills projects" and smart-working, with attention to SMEs.

"Italy once again proves to be a center in favor of attracting investments, innovation and development. The announcement of Microsoft's Digital Restart project, with an investment of 1.4 billion euros for the creation of an important date center in Italy is a further boost to the digital transformation of our country ", commented Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.

Microsoft's investments in Italy cover a history of over 35 years with over 10,000 partners and 350,000 professionals involved, underlines the US group, with the new plan in Italy that is placed within the global plan for the provision of cloud services. "This plan will support those who work across the country to support and rebuild businesses, explore new business opportunities and help solve some of the country's most difficult challenges, while meeting the fundamental security and compliance needs," comments Jean-Philippe Courtois, executive vice president and president of Microsoft Global Sales, Marketing and Operations, according to whom "there is enormous potential to accelerate innovation within the national ecosystem through cloud services, artificial intelligence and digital skills".
