Checks were strengthened in the Darsena and Navigli areas in Milan after the controversy over the images and videos showing gatherings and groups of people, many without masks on the afternoon of 7 May. Images that infuriated the first citizen of Milan, Giuseppe Sala who threatened to close the area and stop the take-away food permit if similar scenes were repeated.
