On the eve of a deconfinement generating hope and concern, the Covid-19 epidemic continues to claim victims in France. The Directorate General of Health (DGS) reported this Sunday of 70 new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. A figure down from the previous day. It is even the lowest daily assessment since March 17, the date of the start of confinement.
A total of 26,380 people have died from coronavirus in the country since the start of the epidemic. In detail, the DGS counts 16,642 deaths in hospitals (+69 in 24 hours) and 9,738 in medico-social establishments (+1), notably in nursing homes.
Negative resuscitation balance
The decline in the number of patients in intensive care units that started several weeks ago continues.
If 38 new serious cases were admitted, the balance remains negative with 36 fewer patients this Sunday, according to the DGS. There are still 2,776 patients still hospitalized in these services reserved for the most serious cases.
