Deconfinement: travel, shopping, beaches ... what we can do (or not) from Monday

2020-05-10T12:06:04.753Z

This Monday, May 11, life will gradually resume for a good part of the French. With, nevertheless, important precautions.

It's a return to normal ... Very gradual. On Monday, the containment put in place on March 16 to fight against the coronavirus epidemic will finally be lifted, but with many precautions. The government has said it again: there is no question of triggering a second wave of contamination.

This May 11, a good part of the businesses will be able to reopen, and transport will resume service for the employees who will return to work, both in the regions in red or in green. Many gathering places will remain closed until the end of the first phase of deconfinement, set for June 2. Here is the detail of the recovery.

From Monday, it will be possible to:

Travel without certificate. Forget the tedious travel certificates. Within a limit of 100 kilometers as the crow flies, or even more if you stay in the same department, you can move freely. Be careful though: the government has recommended that you always limit your trips to what is strictly necessary.

See your loved ones. If your loved ones are less than 100 kilometers from your home, you can visit them. Again, beware: gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited. And, of course, you will have to respect the barrier gestures and avoid kissing.

Shop or go to the market. Non-food businesses and markets may reopen (unless the prefect cons-indicates), while maintaining a physical distance between customers. Please note: shopping centers larger than 40,000 m² may remain closed in risk areas. This is the case for Les Halles and Galeries Lafayette in Paris.

Take public transport. The public transport offer will be reinforced in all metropolitan areas, in order to cope, in particular, with the influx of workers. They will however have to protect themselves with masks. In Ile-de-France, those who use public transport during rush hour must have a certificate, either personal or provided by an employer if they travel to work.

Back to school. In the vast majority of French municipalities, schools will reopen their doors to priority students whose parents want their return.

Do sports on your own. It will be possible to go outside for unlimited sports, but individually and outdoors.

To go to the beach. In certain regions, it will be possible to go to the beach or to the edge of a lake if they are located less than 100 kilometers away and if the local prefect has authorized their reopening.

Visit a small museum or library. Media libraries and small museums will be able to reopen, limiting, of course, the number of people welcomed and respecting barrier gestures.

Organize funeral ceremonies and go to the cemetery. Funeral ceremonies can be organized with a limit of 20 guests. The cemeteries will reopen.

Return to Paris. Parisians confined outside Ile-de-France and who have to return to work will be able to return in an organized manner, guaranteed the Secretary of State for Transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari.

From Monday, it will not be possible to:

Traveling outside France. Christophe Castaner recalled it on May 7: the closing of borders, in Europe and internationally, must remain the rule, and this at least until June 15.

Visit a park or garden in a department in red. These places will be closed in Ile-de-France, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Hauts-de-France and Grand-Est, at least until June 2.

Go to the cinema or have a drink in a bar. The places of exit, like the restaurants, bars, cinemas, theaters and discotheques will also remain closed, in the departments in green as well as in red.

Go to a festival or a match. Large events bringing together several thousand people, such as fairs, festivals and matches, remain prohibited throughout France for the summer.

Attend a wedding, baptism or any religious ceremony. Until June 2, weddings, baptisms are canceled, as are cults. Their resumption will be studied at the end of May.
