Coronavirus in Argentina: 9 deaths and 231 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours

This Monday the new numbers of coronavirus cases in Argentina were known. According to the Ministry of Health of the Nation, in the last 24 hours 231 infected and 9 deceased were confirmed.

According to a preliminary report, of the total cases, 15.4% are imported, 44.2% are close contacts of confirmed cases and 29.3% are cases of community circulation. While the rest are under epidemiological investigation.

In this way it also follows that 50 percent of those infected are men and the other 50 percent women.

2,140 new samples were performed on Sunday and since the start of the outbreak 85,158 diagnostic tests were carried out for this disease, which is equivalent to 1,876.7 samples per million inhabitants.

The main age groups affected by the registered cases correspond to people between 20 and 59 years old, with the average age being 41 years.

The eyes are on the most humble neighborhoods of the City, where in the last ones there are more and more infected and deceased.

The Secretary of Access to Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti, pointed out that the number of people infected in the popular neighborhoods represents 29 percent of the total of the city of Buenos Aires that, and that in the case of the Mugica neighborhood of Retiro it reaches 67 percent.

Vizzotti and the Buenos Aires ministers of Health and Human Development, Fernán Quirós and María Migliore, respectively, spearheaded the coronavirus case detection operation in the 1-11-14 neighborhood of Flores.

This Monday, in the neighborhood 1-11-14, eight teams were deployed, made up of promoters from the Ministries of Health and Human Development and Habitat of the City, personnel from the Ministry of Health of the Nation and referents or member of neighborhood organizations.
