With more than 50 days of preventive, social and compulsory isolation, and while the number of infections increases daily, the future of the coronavirus pandemic, both in Argentina and in the world, is uncertain. And although some countries are gradually returning to normal, it is clear that there is no concrete horizon in sight.

That reality was made explicit this Wednesday by the Argentine Minister of Health, Ginés González García, who spoke of "uncertainty" and of a situation that is "going long."

“Despite being a hypertechnological century, we have a remarkable level of uncertainty . And much of what is said, the next day is not valid. It has a certain similarity to a hope or a riddle, "explained the official.

In statements to Miter radio , García explained that "a pandemic of this magnitude ends with very harsh social isolation, for a long time, or with a vaccine", and that, for now, only the quarantine remains.

" This is going to be long, success today is not not having it, success is controlling it and that no one is left without attention because the health system has been overcome. That part we have achieved. The Health system was very fragile and today it has more than 21 thousand more beds than it did 40 days ago. The development that we have had is very strong ”, he highlighted.

In this framework, the minister appreciated that the appearance of the pandemic served "to produce accelerations that would not have been easy at other times, such as the digital prescription or teleconsultation", and assured that "it is necessary to adapt to each of the stages and fulfill them ”. "If we do not comply, we will go back," he warned.

Regarding the increase in cases of the last days, González García said that just "in about 10 days it will be possible to determine if the circulation of the virus really increased", and attributed the increase to what happens in the vulnerable neighborhoods of the City of Buenos Aires and the suburbs.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health confirmed 285 new positive cases of coronavirus in Argentina, the highest number of infections in a day since the start of the pandemic.

"Today there are not too many elements, because all this is evaluated in ten or twelve days, when we see how the number of cases is coming. Transmission may have increased a little , but that will be seen in a few days," he explained.

In any case, González García highlighted the "increase in the response capacity of the health system throughout the country" and the coordination that exists between all the provinces and the Nation, and said that the capacity for hospitalization, both in intensive care and in common places, "he is underemployed."
