Pledge fraudsters: They trick the supermarket staff with these crazy tricks

Do the tricksters ever practice casting in their spare time as hobby anglers at lakes? One does not know. However, real fishing talent is not absolutely necessary in what is now the most well-known and common scam on deposit machines.

As employees of the two major discounter chains Aldi * and Lidl compared to chip.de *, a line is attached to a deposit bottle during the fishing trick . This is then inserted into the deposit machine, drawn in and pulled out again using the cord - after it has been accepted by the system, validated and actually sent on on a conveyor belt. The fraudsters fish the bottle out of the machine and the game starts again. They want to redeem the same liquid container several times as a deposit.

In the meantime, however, this possibility has been prevented, since the devices recognize the return process and alert the staff. However, it is often difficult to report the perpetrators , because in most cases the bottle anglers escape: "Many flee, " said a Lidl employee.

Deposit fraudsters: They fake labels and use them to stick to toilet paper rolls

Another popular attempt to use the deposit system for his machinations is to stick bottle-like objects with the copied logo of the Deutsche Pfandsystem GmbH (DPG). An employee of an Aldi Nord branch * remembers a very special item that was given the fake stickers: it was a toilet paper roll

To prevent fraud, not only the pawn logo but also the EAN code is now scanned and canceled. If the bottle is crushed and the label can no longer be read by the scanner, the machine reports an error.
