Everyone is keeping their distance, a lot is clarified online. If you want to buy a house, you should not limit yourself to a video, but still look at it yourself.
Berlin (dpa / tmn) - A 360-degree video is not a substitute for a tour, warns the Association of Private Builders (VPB). In Corona times, some brokers would offer this to those interested.
But if you want to buy a property, you should always look at it yourself beforehand, preferably several times. With an appropriate distance, this is also possible during the pandemic.
A typical problem with video recordings is the distorted effect. Rooms can look so much bigger than they are. In addition, problem areas are not shown at all. If you are there, you can also look into the corners. Musty smell indicates mold. Neither are cracks, wavy wallpaper or lowered floor coverings clearly visible in the film. Roof spaces or insulation can also be better assessed live.
If you only rely on a video when buying, you risk expensive renovation work afterwards. Because a house is always bought as seen. As a rule, liability for defects in the sale of a used property is regularly excluded.
