92% of schools activated distance learning, mostly with live lessons on various platforms (85%) and an average duration of lessons between 40 and 60 minutes (69%). Good evaluation of the work done by the teachers in this new capacity (for 60% of the respondents). But the great question of the exclusion of many students who - mostly due to lack of devices, inadequate connection and partly also due to difficult family conditions - is confirmed as not participating in the video lessons. This was reported by 48% of the 1245 subjects, including parents, teachers and students, involved in a civic survey promoted by Cittadinanzattiva on distance learning. It is recurrent that some are excluded mainly due to: inadequate connection (48.5%), sharing of the device between several brothers or family members (33.5%), absence of devices (24.5%), absence of connection ( 16.4%).

On distance learning, these are the proposals of Cittadinanzattiva: make up for the absence of individual devices; extend connections in less-served territories, such as internal areas and peripheral areas; fill gaps related to pupils with specific needs. Integrate the distance teaching guidelines. And again, give clear instructions regarding data and information security measures; define precise rules to protect the health of children, connected for too long online; organize a harmonious and balanced plan of didactic activities. Finally, for Cittadinanzattiva, the national digital training plan for pupils and teachers must be reviewed and implemented. The same must be true of the innovation of teaching methodologies both at a distance and in presence. Cittadinanzattiva promoted the Riconnessi campaign, in partnership with the Federation of Internal Areas, to provide data subscriptions, satellite web connections and electronic devices to students and families of the internal areas of our country. The fundraising takes place on the platform gofundme.com/f/riconnessi and it is possible to report schools and families who need tools to the email riconnnessi@cittadinanzattiva.it

The synchronic mode, that is "live", is the predominant one (85%) but there is no shortage of recorded video lessons (10%) or the coexistence of both approaches (5%). The average length of a video lesson ranges from one hour (39%) to 40 minutes (30%). In 61% of classes, all teachers use the same platform. 46% consider the video lesson service good and 41% are satisfied with the preparation of the teachers. The tasks seem to be a constant of the Italian school, even in times of Covid 19: if in 43% of cases the quantity seems to reflect the usual one, in 27% it would even register an increase. "We believe that we must arrive as soon as possible to define a plan for the reopening of schools and at the same time rethink the educational methods, with the involvement of families and students, taking advantage of the opportunities and overcoming the critical issues that emerged with the so-called teaching of the emergency or quarantine - says Adriana Bizzarri, national coordinator of the School of Cittadinanzattiva - for the reopening of the schools we suggest: a plan and a fund for "light" construction to guarantee all the small maintenance works, the necessary spacing, the recovery unused or in poor condition; a specific fund to be added to the 45 million already allocated to be allocated to local authorities to provide schools with sanitary facilities; particular attention to schools in the internal and outermost areas frequented by almost half a million students, which due to their characteristics could once again become a resource and a place experimentation for our country as long as they guarantee: the strengthening of the connection and digital media; the free extra-urban transport service for secondary school students in these areas; the teaching continuity of teachers ".
