(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 20 - The highly anticipated 'Riccardino', the final novel of Commissioner Montalbano's long and beloved series that will be released posthumously by Andrea Camilleri, will arrive at the bookstore on July 16. One year after the death of the master Vigàta, which took place on 17 July 2019, the Sellerione publishing house thus honors the memory.
The first chapter - now available on the website of the publisher sellerio.it - was read in an extraordinary preview, on May 17th at the International Book Fair of Turin Extra, by Antonio Manzini, friend, pupil and in some way heir of Camilleri.
Among the surprises of the novel, the 'confrontation-clash' between the commissioner Montalbano and his literary alter-ego and TV: when he arrives at the scene of the murder, he finds all facing, "the feast of San Calò seemed". In the "dialogue between the balconies" someone indicates it, recognizes it. "There is Commissioner Montalbano". "But what about the TV?" someone asks.
"No, the real one," someone else replies. And in Montalbanoiniziano to 'firriare i cabasisi': it all started when he had told one of his investigations "to a local writer", "such Camilleri", a "great camurria of man" who had made a novel, "but since in Italy they read four cats ", that first book had made no noise. He had portrayed from his stories other yellow stories, in a "linguabastarda", which had had enormous success, even abroad, and had been transposed on TV. "now everybody knew him and mistaken him for the other one", his doublepirandellian, the actor "who didn't look like him and was 15 years younger".
The irony, trademark of the worldwide success of Camilleri, reappears shortly after, when Montalbano returns to the police station and Catarella tells him that he has called "Ilprofessore Cavilleri". "Camilleri" corrects the commissioner.
"Tell him there aren't any." (HANDLE).
