The Google doodle today is dedicated to Israel Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwo'ol e (born in Honolulu, Hawaii, May 20, 1959 and died, also in Honolulu, June 26, 1997).
The singer and musician became famous in 1993 with the publication of the album Facing Future containing the medley of the songs Over the Rainbow (played by Judy Garland and included in the soundtrack of the film The Wizard of Oz) and What a Wonderful World (standard brought to success by Louis Armstrong) performed in a version with ukulele accompaniment.
