(ANSA) - BUENOS AIRES, MAY 20 - A major new progression of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil has contributed significantly to a substantial step forward in less than 24 hours of infections (571,964) and deaths (31,911) in Latin America. This is what emerges from a statistical elaboration of ANSA for 34 Latin American nations and territories. Firmly in third place for the number of infections in the world after the United States and Russia, Brazil records 271,628 cases, of which 17,971 enter the calculation of the dead. Peru follows, which accumulates 99,483 infected and 2,914 dead, and Mexico (51,663 and 5,332).
