  • We probably do a lot of things on vacation: The 2019 DAK Vacation Report came to the conclusion that 86 percent of the German vacationers surveyed had a good to very good recovery during the summer vacation.
  • In order to find out how Germans can best recover from work and stress, the DAK commissioned a Forsa survey of 1,001 people from July 22 to August 2, 2019 - with some amazing results.

Less smartphone, more environmental protection - this is how the Germans vacation

Not particularly surprising: sun and nature as well as time with the family were the most important factors for a successful and relaxing holiday for most of those surveyed. The former was immensely important for 75 percent, the latter for 66 percent of the respondents. A change of scenery in the form of a trip is also part of a relaxing holiday for 62 percent of those surveyed .

Digital abstinence on vacation is also becoming increasingly important: 27 percent of holidaymakers do without their smartphone and the Internet on their summer vacation because they perceive it as an additional stress factor. According to a DAK press release, attitudes towards environmentally friendly travel are also changing. As many as 87 percent of those surveyed stated that environmental, climate protection and sustainability were important to them when choosing their trips.

Sport and healthy eating: Germans live healthy during their vacation time

Many also see their vacation as an opportunity to make up for neglected sports lessons. According to the DAK, 62 percent of respondents state that they do targeted sports or fitness training during the holidays. Finally eat healthier, sleep more and wellness treatments are also very popular during the holiday season . Only seven percent of the vacationers surveyed indicated that they had done nothing special for their health.
