(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 24 - Japan has recorded 28 new cases of coronavirus and 12 deaths caused by the disease in the last 24 hours: the Ministry of Health of the country has announced this, according to the CNN report.
The tolls thus rose to 17,263 (including 713 diagnosed among the people on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship), while the death toll rose to 833 (13 of which related to the Diamond Princess).
Two new cases were registered in Tokyo, the lowest level since the state of emergency came into effect last September.
The government is expected to lift the state of emergency in Hokkaido, Tokyo and three nearby prefectures tomorrow.
