(ANSA) - NEW YORK, JUNE 2 - "We will not tolerate violence" in any form. This was stated by the mayor of New York, Bill deBlasio, asking the leaders of individual communities to act and contribute to maintaining calm. De Blasio quindiannanno that the curfew in the city will last for the rest of the week, until Sunday 7 June: will start every evening at 20.00 until 5 the next morning. The extension of the curfew decided by De Blasio is intertwined with the expected opening of New York after the coronavirus. The date set for reopening is Monday 8 June, the day after the curfew expires. Announcing the evening squeeze from 20.00 to 5 in the morning until Sunday 7 June, De Blasi explains how the decision is also dictated by the need to contain the coronavirus, the spread of which could be facilitated by the gatherings. The mayor then described the looting and destruction caused by protests on city streets as "unacceptable", even on Fifth Street.
