The Greek government announced Tuesday that it will fund treatments for tourists who will start in Corona during a visit to the country. Greece announces the decision about a week after its neighbor Cyprus first announced the surprising move.
Greece will open its doors to tourists in less than two weeks. Currently, the number of corona infections in the country is low, and the number in the resort areas is even lower. However, it is important to note that Greece will open its doors to a wide range of countries, including countries where there are a number of high-stickers like Germany.
The Greek government issued a statement, saying, "We want the tourists who come here to be safe and feel the best they can. There is already a decent amount of bookings and we hope and expect the arrival of tourists to Greece. We will keep all the rules, hygiene and social remoteness."
It is important to note that the sky in Israel is now closed. This means that only Israeli citizens can enter the country, anyone entering Israel must enter the isolation for two weeks. It is currently unclear when the decision will change.
Factors in the tourism and aviation industry point an accusing finger at the Ministry of Health and accuse the decision makers of dragging their feet throughout the decision-making process. To date, opening dates have been published in dozens of countries around the world including Spain, and in Israel we have not yet published an official date. It is expected that the skies will open in early July and only a few countries with which agreements are expected, but as yet there is no official announcement.
