Munich - The Hexal AG has come up with an urgent medicines - message appealed to pharmacists and customers. The company, based in Holzkirchen near Munich gets a medication back because the packaging incorrectly printed could be.

Affected by the recall is the drug L- Thyrox Hexal in the dosage strength of  100 micrograms , which in thyroid - patient is used as, among others, the pharmacy newspaper reported.

Medication recall from Hexal: Package printed incorrectly

Accordingly, the blisters , i.e. the transparent individual packaging of the tablets, could be incorrectly printed on a batch of the drugbe*. "100 micrograms" would incorrectly appear on the back of the blister instead of "100 micrograms". However, all blisters actually contain tablets of 100 micrograms of the active ingredient levothyroxine sodium. The value is therefore correctly noted on the folding box that contains the blister.

The drug commission of the German pharmacists (AMK) warns that there is “the risk of unintentional overdosing” due to the labeling error. Such an overdose could result in symptoms such as those associated with an overactive thyroid.

The AMK therefore also asks all pharmacists to check the inventory. "Pharmacies and wholesalers must immediately block affected pharmaceuticals from sales," it continues. The first delivery of the affected goods took place on March 27th.

If customers have packs of the corresponding batch at home, they are asked to contact their pharmacy. Alternatively, direct contact to Hexal AG could be sought. At office hours at +49 (0) 800/439 25 27, outside office hours at +49 (0) 2065/256 1665 or by email to service@hexal.com.
