Xbox One and PS4 come with good quality game controllers. However, for intensive players who can undermine them after a certain time, the moment to clean the controller or to change a button or an analog stick can arise. Which joystick to choose?
Depending on your habits and preferences, choosing a game controller that suits you may need to take into account different criteria. However, on PS4 and Xbox One, we must admit that the choice is made easier by the fact that the PS4 controller as the basic Xbox One controller are of very good quality. On Xbox One, Microsoft provides a controller that is even considered the most ergonomic by many PC players. We especially like its triggers. In addition to offering a generous stroke and great precision, they are equipped with vibration motors which further improve immersion in shooting or car games. On the autonomy side, there is a choice between removable batteries (available separately) and conventional batteries.
The Sony DualShock 4 for PS4 is also a model of its kind, except that the autonomy of the small integrated battery is quite average. On the other hand, its handling has been significantly improved compared to the Dualshock 3 which still included the design, almost unchanged, of the original PlayStation controller. The placement of the sticks divides between the amateurs of the Sony symmetry and the inversion operated by Microsoft since the first Xbox, but the players of combat games appreciate its directional cross. In the good points, the two controllers are Bluetooth compatible and can be used on PC and mobile (iOS and Android).
For experienced players who want more precision and customization, more technical options exist. On Xbox One, Microsoft offers its Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. Compared to the basic controller, the Elite V2 allows you to change the directional pad, the shape of the sticks, the tension and the trigger lock. It also adds paddles accessible under the fingers for quick access to additional functions, and offers non-slip handles. A slightly more affordable option is the famous manufacturer Razer's Wolverine. On PS4, in the absence of a "Pro" controller at Sony, we can fall back on the Astro C40 TR. Among the advantages of this fully configurable controller, we appreciate the possibility of inverting the directional cross and the left analog stick to adopt an "Xbox-style" arrangement that some will prefer. The trigger stroke is also configurable.
