Athletics: Tortu, return to the track on July 4th in Rieti

Filippo Tortu has set the date of his seasonal outdoor debut after the lockdown: "I will debut in Rieti on July 4th in the second edition of the Fastweb Cup", announced the Italian record holder of the 100 meters at 'Quelli che il calcio', on Rai2 .     The event, in compliance with all protocols arranged for the resumption of competitions, will be organized by the Rieti Student Athletics Andrea Milardi in collaboration with Sprint Academy.
    The sprinter of the Yellow Flames will then resume his 2020 which had opened with success at the indoor Absolute Tricolors on February 23 in the 60 meters of Ancona. In a season that does not include international appointments due to the coronavirus pandemic, the reference for the Doha 2019 world finalist is above all in the time trial, with the aim repeatedly confirmed to return under ten seconds and improve its Italian record of 9.99 which dates back to June two years ago in Madrid.
    On the Rieti track, Tortu made his debut in the last two seasons, running a windy 9.97 (+2.4) last year and a 10.16 in 2018. On the same straight, the sprinter trained by his father Salvino conquered his first Italian title in 2016 in the 100 meters, dated 2016. In the Sabine capital two other events are expected for the resumption of competitions, in addition to that of Saturday 4, again in July: races also on Saturday 11 and Thursday 23, in the latter case to celebrate the 60 years of the Guidobaldi stadium.
