The work, a huge collage in black and white, is affixed to the walls of a building in the tenth arrondissement of Paris. It was carried out overnight from Monday to Tuesday.

The world-famous French artist JR and students from the film school created by director Ladj Ly produced, on the night of Monday to Tuesday in Paris, a huge fresco in tribute to Adama Traoré, a young black man of 24 years old died during his arrest in 2016.

" The fresco is there to pay homage to Adama and George Floyd, " said Ladj Ly, the director of Les Misérables crowned with the Césars, present at the press conference organized in front of the fresco by the support committee of Adama Traoré.

The death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old African American who was killed on May 25 in Minneapolis by a white police officer, aroused unprecedented worldwide outrage and became a symbol of police violence.

Known around the world for his collages - from Rio favelas to the Palestinian Territories via the Pantheon - artist JR created the fresco on the walls of a building in the 10th district of Paris with students from the film school Kourtrajmé, whose training he directs. This huge black and white collage represents two eyes separated by a crack.

" This fresco echoes the march of June 2, the face of George Floyd, the face of Adama Traore, " said Assa Traore, at a press point to demand " the summons to justice of the gendarmes " who proceeded to arrest his little brother.

On June 2, when the young man's family called, more than 20,000 people had demonstrated before the Paris tribunal de grande instance. On Saturday, more than 23,000 people marched across France to denounce police violence and demand " justice for all ".

New rallies and tributes are planned for Tuesday in the country to salute the memory of George Floyd, at the time of his funeral in Houston (Texas).
