YouTube has announced the establishment of a $ 100 million fund intended to give voice to African American creators who publish content on its platform. The CEO, Susan Wojcicki, made this known in a post on the company's blog.

The fund will finance the production of new original programs. "We are committed to doing better as a platform to centralize and amplify the voices and perspectives of African Americans," wrote Wojcicki. "We all need to do more to dismantle systemic racism."

PayPal is also taking the field, with 530 million destined to support the economic activities owned by African Americans and minorities in the United States. The bulk of the figure - 500 million - will serve to invest in the activities and communities of African Americans and minorities present in the country, the company explained.

YouTube and PayPal join the list of hi-tech companies that in recent weeks have allocated money to support the African American community. Apple yesterday launched its Initiative for Justice and Racial Equity, backed with 100 million.

Google has allocated 12 million to support organizations that fight racism. Amazon and Facebook have both earmarked 10 million for groups fighting for racial and social justice.
