Paris, Lyon, Marseille… Thousands of demonstrators are marching this Saturday across the country against racism and police violence.

The essential :

  • Thousands of demonstrators march this Saturday in all the major cities of France against racism and police violence.
  • These gatherings are all the more sensitive as the rumble rises on the side of the police, who consider themselves "thrown into the blue" by the government and the Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner.
  • The biggest parade takes place in Paris. It is organized at the call of the Adama Traoré Committee and will connect the Place de la République to that of the Opera, from 2.30 p.m.
  • To prevent any overflow, the Paris police prefect Didier Lallement ordered the closure of shops, drinking places and restaurants located on the route.

Follow the events minute by minute:

1:55 p.m. Between 10,000 and 20,000 participants expected. According to a note from the intelligence directorate of the Paris police headquarters, which we were able to consult, the police expect a mobilization of "10,000 to 20,000 people". The note warns of "risks of incidents along the route as well as dispersion", in particular due to the "participation of activists in the radical protest movement (100 to 200 people), of yellow vests (300 to 600 people, including 100 to 200 ultra yellow) and young people from sensitive areas of the Paris region ”.

1:50 p.m. An hour before the start of the Paris parade, the demonstrators were already gathering in Place de la République, according to our reporter on the spot. Between 400 and 500 people were already on site, a PA truck parked near the statue.
