How to sum up such a full life? Claude Samuel, who has just passed away a few days before his 89th birthday, has been his tireless activist in musical creation all his life. Not just a lobbyist or an influencer: a man of action. Of those whose musicians, often little gifted for this, have a vital need, and without whom they would remain in their ivory tower.
Born June 23, 1931, he studied dentistry to please his parents, but already, only music interested him. He creates a disc club at the dental school and performs a quiet military service at the health service of the Military School, which gives him time to devote himself to his passion. Active in the JMF (Jeunesses musicales de France), he was spotted by the composer Maurice Le Roux who took him under his wing and introduced him to musical circles. He attends the first concerts of the musical domain just created by Pierre Boulez: he is fascinated, his place is there, it will be his fight.
