The assessment confirms the slowdown of the epidemic, and of contaminations. This Monday, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) counted 29 new deaths due to Covid-19, bringing the total of deaths to 29,436 in France since the start of the epidemic.

Of this total, 19,052 deaths occurred in hospitals. Regarding deaths in nursing homes and other medico-social establishments, a report will be updated Tuesday by Public Health France, says the DGS.

846 people suffering from a severe form of Covid-19 are hospitalized in intensive care. A figure that continues its slow decline, with a negative balance of 33.

Concern in Guyana and Mayotte

10,752 patients are currently hospitalized after being infected. Since the start of the epidemic, 103,342 people have passed through the hospital for contamination with the new coronavirus. Of these patients, 73,044 returned home.

The DGS highlights a "worrying situation" in Mayotte and Guyana, "where the virus is actively circulating". “In Guyana, there is an intensification of viral circulation around the three major urban areas of the coast. All municipalities are now affected. Efforts are continuing in the districts to limit the acceleration of the number of infected people and to detect the greatest number of cases and contacts ”, develops the DGS in its press release.

“In Mayotte, the number of cases is high, but decreasing. The capacity reinforcements and medical evacuations towards Reunion made it possible to avoid major hospital tensions ”, explains the DGS.
