(ANSA) - GENOA, JUNE 19 - The GNV hospital ship closes its doors, the first experiment of this type in Italy, docked in Genoa, which during the epidemic allowed clinically cured Covid-positive patients to pass convalescence in a protected place without risking contagion to others and, at the same time, receiving adequate care. The ship, a ferry 'transformed' into a hospital unit within a few days under the supervision and management of ASL3 and the regional civil protection, hosted 191 patients for a total of 2,900 total days of hospitalization. On board operated 14 doctors, 30 nurses, 14 oss and 5 reservists of the Order of Malta. The last three patients have gone down and the ship, once emptied of medical material and sanitized, will be returned to GNV.
"It was an exciting and positive experience - said Luigi Carlo Bottaro -, from a professional and human point of view".
