Mediawan sees big and pursues with determination its ambition to become the leader in the production of audiovisual content in Europe. The group created in 2016 by producer Pierre-Antoine Capton (3rd Eye Productions), telecoms tycoon Xavier Niel (Free) and banker Matthieu Pigasse (ex-Lazard and now head of the French branch of the Banque d ' Centerview Partners) made a series of announcements on Monday.

On the production side first, Mediawan, for two years the leader in TV production in France, entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire Lagardère Studios, the number two, from which Arnaud Lagardère had been seeking to separate for more than a year. The group led by Pierre-Antoine Capton is putting 100 million euros on the table (85 million firm and 15 million “earn out”) to carry out this operation which will consolidate its rank as a tricolor leader. The operation will also allow it to strengthen in Spain, Lagardère Studios
