Spain, Ancelotti accused of tax evasion

    Carlo Ancelotti is accused by Spanish justice of having hidden part of his income from the tax authorities, in particular from image rights, for about one million euros. A case against the former Real Madrid manager was initiated this morning.
    The complaint refers to "two possible crimes against the Treasury relating to income taxes for the years 2014 and 2015", during which the technician would not have declared "a total of 1,062 million euros", specifies a note from the Spanish prosecutor. A judge will then have to agree to deal with the case and possibly convene it.
    Ancelotti coached the Madrid football team from June 2013 to May 2015. According to the prosecution, he reported the salaries received by Real in 2014 and 2015, but not "the revenues corresponding to the exploitation of his image rights, as well as those derived from its relationship with the Madrid sports club or those perceived as a consequence of contracts with other brands. " According to the prosecutor, he relied on a "complex network of shell companies" to hide the identity of the real beneficiary of this income from the Spanish tax authorities.
