(ANSA) - ROME, JUNE 30 - In May 2020, the production prices of the industry are expected to decrease slightly in the previous month (-0.1%) and to a marked decrease on an annual basis (-5.3%). Istat points out that, specifying that after the large decreases of the previous months, the slight economic downturn is the synthesis of moderate changes of the opposite sign on the markets, both domestic and foreign. On an annual basis, the decline is accentuated (-5.3%, from -5.1% in April) due to the effects on the domestic market (-7.2%), only partially offset by a more sustained growth in the prices of goods instrumental and consumer goods in the euro area and a sharp reduction in the drop in energy prices in the non-euro area.
