In the first scenes we see the great artist in some fundamental moments of his journey: the difficult beginnings, the birth of the partnership with the producer Jerry Wexler (Marc Maron), and his civil commitment: "You have to make war when you can't find peace," he explains.
Among the cast, among others also the Oscar winner Forest Whitakere one of the most awarded stars of Broadway, Audra McDonald, the new parents of the singer, and among others, MarlonWayans, Tituss Burgess and Mary J. Blige, in the part of an other star of soul, Dinah Washington.
"It's amazing how much (the film) has assonances with what is going on - explained Jennifer Hudson - I can't find the words, but it's as if a voice from the past speaks louder today, showing how much its music was and is timeless". (HANDLE).
