ROME - The next series starring Paola Cortellesi as Petra Delicato, the inspector of furniture created by the skilful pen of Alicia Giménez-Bartlett, will air on Sky in September. The first official images of Petra, the new Sky Original project produced by Cattleya - part of ITV Studios - in association with Bartlebyfilm, which will debut in September on Sky Cinema, were unveiled today.

Four yellow female stories inspired by the most famous Barcelona detective in the world, the character created by Giménez-Bartlett and appeared for the first time in Spain in the novel "Death Rites" (1996), published in Italy in 2002 by Sellerio, publisher of all his novels, which have achieved extraordinary success in our country, selling over one and a half million copies. The protagonist of the Cortellesi series who lends her face to Petra Delicato, is an inspector of the Genoa furniture, who finds herself catapulted to the front line to resolve cases of murder and violence, together with Vice-Inspector Antonio Monte - played by Andrea Pennacchi - old-fashioned policeman close to retirement, full of human wisdom and great insights.

Two failed marriages behind her, free from sentimental ties, outside the box and in the constant search for her place in the world, thanks to the new role that will lead her to face new challenges, she will know how to get back into play not only professionally. His frankness, his direct and often hasty ways, his pungent and sagacious irony will also characterize the relationship with his colleague Monte with whom, despite the numerous character differences, he will build a solid professional affinity as well as a sincere friendship.

The series, set in Genoa, is directed by Maria Sole Tognazzi, for the first time engaged in a production for TV, which returns to direct Paola Cortellesi after Past past (2003), her first direction which earned her the Golden Globe for best first film and a Silver Ribbon for Best New Director. The series is written by Giulia Calenda, Furio Andreotti and Ilaria Macchia. A screenplay is also signed by Enrico Audenino. The filming took place in Genoa with the support of the Genova-Liguria Film Commission.
