The world in 2019 produced 53.6 million tons of electronic waste, a figure never touched before, corresponding to 7.3 kilograms per inhabitant, with European citizens reaching 16.2 kilos. This was stated by the annual report of the UN university and of the International Solid Waste Association, according to which the figure is expected to reach 74 million tons by 2030.
Among the discarded materials mainly plastic and silicon, but also large quantities of copper , gold and other precious metals. If recovered, they would be worth $ 57 billion.
