Hallyday legacy: two and a half years of legal battle

The singer's wife and his grand daughter Laura reached an agreement this Friday. Back on a case that tore the family apart.


If the family seemed reunited at the time of Johnny's death two and a half years ago, the Hallyday clan imploded a few days later. Back on a very media soap opera which ends with an agreement this Friday between Laeticia and Laura Smet.

December 5, 2017. Disappearance of Johnny Hallyday, at the age of 74, in Marnes-la-Coquette (Hauts-de-Seine). He is buried on the Caribbean island of Saint-Barthélémy, where he has property.

February 12, 2018. "I chose to fight". Laura Smet sends AFP a letter in which she reveals that she and her brother David are missing from the last will drawn up in 2014 in the United States by their father and that they will challenge it in court.

March 31, 2018. First real hearing at the Nanterre tribunal de grande instance. The judges consider Laura and David's request. The exchanges between their lawyers are tense.

October 19, 2018. Release of Johnny's 51st and last album. "My country is love" will sell 1.7 million copies.

June 2020. Laeticia Hallyday and her daughters return from Los Angeles to Paris to sign the agreement around the estate.
