The little boy, who barely speaks or controls sphincters, showed subtle improvements until the new coronavirus was quarantined and everything was interrupted.
"We thought it would be for a couple of weeks, but never that we would reach a hundred days. The quarantine that this man decreed (by the President of the Nation) is wild . I have my son locked up without being able to do that treatment so importantly and clearly He retreated into his situation: now Titian screams for no reason, he pays no attention to what he does, he wakes up six or seven times crying in the middle of the night, "describes the father, Rodolfo Bonavita, almost asking for help.
Both Rodolfo and Valeria Avellaneda, Tiziano's mother, plead that face-to-face care be considered in some way for exceptional cases such as my son's. "The treatment was resumed by video call, imagine, an absurdity for a child with these characteristics. She does not give it a ball, she goes elsewhere, it does not work, she does not get hooked ... Even the therapists themselves acknowledge
"They are the great forgotten, boys in general and boys with disorders or delays in particular. We want to be the voice of many families who are going through the same situation. It is unacceptable that a hardware store is open and is an essential activity and a therapist or kinesiologist no, "they say.
"Since the quarantine began, Titian began to show symptoms that he did not have," his father Rodolfo describes with dismay.
Before the quarantine, Titian, apparently due to a virus, suffered facial paralysis that led to hospitalization. He recovered days later, but was told ten kinesiology sessions. "Kinesiology began, the treatment, which wasten sessions, it was suspended by the quarantine and my son remained with the twisted face . Explain to me, crazy ... Fortunately, with the passing of the weeks, it was improving and everything returned to its place. How can it be that a kinesiologist, in this case as in many others, is not allowed to work! Valeria and Rodolfo draw strength from where they do not have, but at times they feel overcome by the situation. "We are not trained to help Titian, our hope was in the treatment. In 2019 he went to room three and in the kindergarten they let us know that the psycho-pedagogical treatment would be very important to determine if he would need an integrative teacher. Titian and Santiago, blood brothers, were adopted by Rodolfo and Valeria in 2018.
They are both 42 years old and were parents after a long struggle. In 2014 they lost a baby, who was born and lived only one day, due to respiratory problems. Once the forces recovered, they thought about adopting and in June 2018 Tiziano and Santiago, blood brothers, arrived . "The arrival of them in our lives was a blessing and we are doing everything so that, in this case Titian, has a more auspicious future," they say.
Lowered but not defeated, Rodolfo and Valeria have always managed in everything that depended on their will. "But here it is a foreign issue, it is from the Executive Branch," they point out, "which does not take into account that there are many people like Titian. And the parents of all Titians, helpless, we are suffering . that they can attend in person to all those who are going through this difficult situation. "
"It is not enough to go for a walk or go shopping. Kids with these difficulties need face-to-face medical treatments," says dad. Tiziano.
They know that Titian's future depends on them, that is why they want to reach the most sensitive fibers of power: "Medical neglect can be a sentence for the life of our son and that of many others. It is necessary for Mr. Alberto to know Fernández that a family with children with this pathology can make the effort for a certain time, but living under a situation of eternal uncertainty is impossible. "
Calm and vertigo come together in the Bonavita family home in Avellaneda. While mom washes the boys, dad cooks. But the heads of both do not stop and reach a disturbing conclusion: "The pandemic will pass, but these children may never be the same again. They are robbing them of time of life and joy."
