The mural, at the heart of tensions since its inauguration at the end of June, was covered with tags during the night from Friday to Saturday.

The fresco that pays homage to George Floyd and Adama Traoré continues to crystallize the oppositions. The mural was degraded by an unknown person on the night of Friday to Saturday and covered with the words "extortion", "theft" or "robbery of a pregnant woman". This fresco, which depicts George Floyd, a black American who was asphyxiated in May during his arrest in Minneapolis, and Adama Traoré, who died after being arrested by gendarmes in Beaumont-sur-Oise in July 2016, has created tensions since its inauguration. This took place on June 18 by the mayor of Stains, Azzedine Taïbi.

The reason for the clashes: the inscription "Against racism and police violence", denounced by the police officers of the Alliance union. On June 22, the police union demonstrated in front of the Bobigny prefecture to demand the withdrawal of the adjective "police", which it considers stigmatizing.

The prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis had finally put the PCF mayor of Stains on notice so that he could have the registration changed ... What the mayor had refused to do.

Sunday morning, the day after the degradation of the fresco, the mayor Azzedine Taïbi, indicated that he was going to file a complaint against X, and ask that the work be restored, as at its origin.
