The British rock group announced the departure of its co-leader following a "joint decision" in a statement relayed on social networks.

They were the heirs of Oasis and Britpop of the 90s, emerging during the following decade alongside Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand or Block Party. The Kasabian group announced the departure of its singer, Tom Meighan, following a mutual agreement in a statement shared on social networks Monday.

“Tom Meighan withdrew from Kasabian following a joint decision. Tom has been struggling for some time with personal problems that have affected his behavior and wants to use all his strength to put his life back on track. We will not comment further, " the group wrote in a statement on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

According to NME magazine , the singer suffered from psychological disorders for several years. A few hours after the message was published, Meighan reassured Kasabian fans on Twitter, however. “Following the announcement made today, I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm fine. I feel much better now. Thank you for your love and support. I'll meet you very soon, ” he wrote.

A singer of Kasabian since his training in 1997, Tom Meighan had participated in the group's six albums, of which he acted as a leader alongside guitarist and composer Sergio Pizzorno. In recent years, the two thinking heads of the group had embarked on solo projects without this seeming to impact the cohesion of the quartet.

"We need a seventh baby," Tom Meighan told Sky News last month. We will try to make a new record as soon as we can, but there is not much we can do until we are completely unconfigured. Serge wrote songs for Kasabian so everything is fine . "
