(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, JULY 8 - The spread of the coronavirus continues at a high pace even today in Israel.
In the last 24 hours there have been 1,528 infections and consequently the number of positive cases detected since the start of the pandemic has risen to 32,714. The Ministry of Health reported it. The number of patients is now 14,104: there were 5,460 two weeks ago.
Deaths rose to 343, five more than in the previous 24 hours. So far, 18,267 people have recovered in the country.
Meanwhile, today the Minister of Defense (and alternate Prime Minister) Benny Gantz announced that he had entered voluntarily into a marriage having met a person who turned out to be positive on Sunday. In a statement Gantz added that he was in good physical condition and waiting for the outcome of a test.
From today, in an attempt to circumscribe a worrying contagion focus, the Orthodox settlement of Betar Illit (in the West Bank, 60,000 inhabitants) has been proclaimed 'red zone'. Other minor outbreaks are also reported in the Orthodox town of Bney Braq (Tel Aviv), as well as in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Ashdod and Petach Tikwa. (ANSAmed). (HANDLE).
