“Historical” agreements to increase salaries in hospitals

After seven weeks of marathon negotiations, the majority health unions have given the green light. They will sign this Monday, in Matignon, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, and the Minister in charge of the file, Olivier Véran, two agreements to raise the salary of hospital staff (carers, doctors or interns) and Ehpad of a total amount of more than 8 billion euros, including 7.5 billion for non-medical people. It is " the biggest increase in income ever proposed in this country, " insisted the Minister of Health.

Negotiated as part of the "Ségur de la santé" launched on May 25 following the coronavirus crisis, these agreements should also put an end to 18 months of strike in the hospital. For the executive and Emmanuel Macron himself, it was crucial to find common ground before the celebration of July 14.
