With their Haute Couture, F / W 2020, presented digitally on the platform of the French Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Moda, Viktor & Rolf, they underlined the extraordinary era of change we are experiencing, rereading three cornerstones of the dress to be home: dressing gown, bathrobe, petticoat. All summarized in 9 outfits grouped in blocks of three garments that parade in the video described by a male out-of-field voice, as was done in the past. Directed by Marijke Aerden and narrated by Mika, the film was shot at the Waldorf Astoria in Amsterdam. The 'Change' animation was created by Studio Maan Bijster.
Concept and text by Viktor & Rolf. The first of three looks that embodies a feeling of sadness and anger, familiar to many these days, is a dark blue satin chemise from home. The empire cut and the neckline of the dress gently embrace the bust, leaving room for a fluid hem. Intricate lace applications create a pattern in the shape of rain-laden clouds, a symbol of darkness in the air on days of isolation. The next look is designed to be worn only at home, it is in dark gray chenille and is inspired by the men's dressing gown, but it has interesting features such as cuffs and wide neck in quilted satin and braided edge. An elaborate bow defines it as a creation in full Viktor & Rolf style. The long and soft sleeves accentuate the gravitas of the moment. For the final appearance in this panoply of darkness here is a majestic faux leather coat. There are many reasons to be angry and this boss communicates the feeling. The surprising volume and the cone motif will impress want to make you feel safe. By the way, the face mask has gained worldwide success by becoming the new smart accessory of the season. In the second block the confusion is already perceived from the shoulder of the nightgown. Playing with the see / not see effect, this first look is a one-shoulder dress in pale pink synthetic satin, maniacally decorated with a polka dot pattern of contradictory emojis, each of which symbolizes a mood. A vortex of emotions is made with inserts of yellow lace and delicate satin. The hairy softness of the bathrobe coat is juxtaposed with the nervous asymmetry of its design. The diagonal bands cross the body and entangle one of the arms. A sequence of bows tries to mitigate the suffocation effect emphasized by the combination of listless colors such as pale pink and canary yellow. A maximalist coat with an asymmetrical cut made of pink and yellow eco-leather with glitter hints completes this mini wardrobe. Its generous volume "guarantees" to stay in your safe area as you venture into the world, creating distance. The abstract decoration of holes and tunnels is at the same time unapproachable and attractive, the effect is emphasized by the chromatic mix of pink and yellow. The last three looks are inspired by love with its swirling abundance of red, white and black hearts. Lace applications are used here to obtain the opposite effect: melancholy becomes serenity. Change is necessary. If only we could change as easily as we do with our clothes, who wouldn't choose love? Because love wins over everything, even over the virus of racism. The splendid final coat features the heart symbol that shows unity. Message: "We all deserve to be loved, regardless of age, color, gender, race, religion or sexuality. Social distancing has never been so sweet in this white faux leather manteau, decorated with dozens of sparkling hearts"
