(ANSA) - BRASILIA, JUL 13 - The Brazilian president, JairBolsonaro, in quarantine since last Tuesday after being positive at Covid-19, has returned to criticize what defined the "panic" caused by the coronavirus pandemic and expressed his concern for the economic consequences caused by the health crisis. According to the head of state, "information has been a widely used weapon" to increase the severity of the disease. "The panic has spread and this has made people believe that there is only one problem to face," said Bolsonaro. In Brazil, the death toll yesterday was 72,151 deaths and 1,866,176 confirmed coronavirus cases. Nonetheless, according to Bolsonaro the central problem is that "millions of formal jobs" have been destroyed along with "tens of millions of informal workers who are without income in a country on the verge of recession". "The situation is not worse only thanks to government actions to help small and medium-sized enterprises and the 600 reais paid to 60 million people" on low incomes, concluded the president verdeoro.
