"Italians keep on donating". This is the appeal launched by the Roman non-profit organization 'Happy family Grajau' to avoid the drop in donations following the health emergency. After the wave of solidarity and generosity in the months of the lockdown, with almost 166 million raised by the Civil Protection, donations to non-profit companies - they explain - suffered a sudden stop. The trend carried out by the Italian Institute of Donation (IID) for the first quarter of 2020 also confirmed this trend, according to which 81% of the companies suffered a significant contraction on fundraising and 40% reported a drop of more than 50% .

The Covid emergency has also forced fundraising towards digital: several platforms have had great success, new ones have sprung up and historical ones have consolidated, confirming the "Donare 3.0" study, conducted by Doxa in the years between 2014 and 2019. The salient figure regards online donations which have gone from 15 to 21%; those via cash fell, from 47% to 40%, as well as solidarity SMS, from 24% to 16%, the postal bulletin, from 17% to 10%.

During the months of the health emergency, the Roman non-profit organization has activated a network of volunteers and interventions to assist the weakest subjects through donations of tablets to patients in the Covid wards and food collections for the non self-sufficient. “The social network does not stop - declares Andrea De Petris, member of the board of directors of Happy Family Grajau, who has been involved in various international theaters for over ten years - and donating part of your time and resources to solidarity and charity initiatives can be a a source of pride and strength for the whole country. At this moment, therefore, we are asking for support for the initiatives that we have been carrying out for years, such as the latest addition to the Ecole Primaire in Bukavu, a city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, ravaged by the civil war: by purchasing aprons, educational materials, desks and above all funding literacy and basic education for five years.
