Istat confirms in the final data that Italy is also in deflation in June. The consumer price index (NIC), gross of tobaccos, recorded a drop of 0.2% on an annual basis (as in the previous month) and an increase of 0.1% on a monthly basis. "The drop in consumer prices on an annual basis, recorded for the second consecutive month, continues to be the product of opposing thrusts: those deflationary coming from the prices of energy goods and those rising from food goods, for the care of the home and the person, "comments Istat.
The prices of the so-called shopping cart continue to grow in June, by 2.1%, against the trend compared to inflation, but slow down the pace from 2.4% in May. On the other hand, fresh fruit continues to run, with an increase of 11.5% after + 7.9% in the previous month.
Food prices in general mark + 2.3%, slightly slowing from + 2.5% in May. While the products with high purchasing frequency (which also include fuels) are growing again, from a zero variation to + 0.1%.
